Habach Valley

The Valley of Emeralds in the Hohe Tauern in Salzburger Land

The Habach Valley lies in the area of the Venediger Group. It extends in a south-north direction and leads into the Pinzgau Salzach Valley at Habach. The head of the valley is at 2000 metres above sea level.

Things to know

Did you already know that you can also search for green emeralds? Right next to the Almgasthof Alpenrose, a huge mudflow thundered out of the Leckbach gully into the valley in 2002, and since then the emeralds have been lying in the meadow, so to speak. Try your luck.

Furthermore, a great theme trail “the Emerald Trail” leads into the Habachtal. This hiking trail is intended to show you the scenic beauty of the Wildkogel Arena on the one hand and to provide information about mineralogy and geology on the other.
