Sommer

family holiday in a nature paradise - discover the most beautiful side of the hohe tauern national park.

Be amazed. Discover. Experience. Just PURE nature.

The Hohe Tauern National Park, Austria's biggest national park, is a real nature paradise for discoverers of every age. It is especially beautiful, because its flora and fauna has no equal. Here you can easily discover nature together with your children, unwind and enjoy the time you spend together to the fullest.

Those who venture to explore nature will come home with awesome experiences.

In the simplicity of nature we connect ourselves with our roots. Also children feel the positive energy and get involved with the magical spectacle of nature within a short time. Encourage the childlike curiosity and feel like a child again yourself. Take your beloved ones and lie down amidst a colourful flower meadow, listen to the cheerful, lively concert of the birds, breath in the refreshing air of the mountains and watch the clouds drifting by. Maybe you spot some sheeps or other animals, figures and forms?!

The biodiversity in the Hohe Tauern National Park is stunning. From red deer to chamois many animals which you will not encounter in the wild otherwise are to be found here. You might also come across small beetles, ants, birds, Alpine salamanders and squirrels. Will the kids remember all the animals you see on your way? Find out and turn it into a game.

Our family tips for real explorers:

Especially, we would like to recommend the Emerald trail in the Habachtal valley, the Venedigerweg trail to the Berndlalm in the Obersulzbachtal valley, a hike to the Blausee lake and a trip to the Krimml Waterfalls.

But before you start, you should check our packing list for an eventful day in the Hohe Tauern National Park.

The Obersulzbachtal valley

in the Hohe Tauern National Park

Sonja Gassner tells us what we can look forward to when hiking in the Obersulzbachtal valley. Theme trails, alpine huts, rushing streams, waterfalls,...

Emerald Path

Valley of emeralds, minerals & emerald mining

The Emerald Path in Hohe Tauern National Park branches off from the wide road just after the small information building at the Habachtal car park in Bramberg, leading alongside the splashing waters of the Habach. At the "Grüner Boden", you will find some interesting tips about the most important minerals found in Habachtal vally, as well as about a legendary figure known as the "Venedigermandl".
