If you’re coming from the north, there are several ways to reach Neukirchen:
Once you arrive in Neukirchen, follow the entrance at the Wildkogelbahnen, drive through the town, and turn right in front of the church (between Gwandstube and Hotel Kammerlander). After 20 meters, turn left and then left again. Alternatively, you can drive through the town, pass the church, go to the Hauptschule (main school), and then turn right after the Hauptschule.
If you’re coming from the west, from Switzerland, take the Inntalautobahn and exit at Wörgl Ost. From there, go through St. Johann in Tirol, Kitzbühel, over the Paß Thurn, to Mittersill, and finally to Neukirchen.
If you’re coming from the east, from Vienna, drive via Salzburg and Bischofshofen to Zell am See and then continue to Mittersill and Neukirchen. Alternatively, you can choose the route via Vienna, Salzburg, Bad Reichenhall, Lofer, Zell am See, Mittersill, and Neukirchen.
Since November 2019, there is no toll sticker requirement on the A12 Inntal-Autobahn from the border at Kufstein Süd. Otherwise, in Austria, the toll sticker requirement applies to all highways and expressways. Specifically, this means that you don’t need a valid toll sticker for the route from Kiefersfelden to Kufstein-Süd!
Our Tip: Purchase a toll sticker in advance, ideally before your journey, and affix it correctly to your windshield. You can also purchase the NEW digital toll sticker from December 2017 on www.asfinag.at. This will save you unnecessary trouble, such as a €120 replacement toll if you travel without a toll sticker. Compliance with the toll sticker requirement is monitored by the police and ASFINAG. Traveling without a valid toll sticker carries the risk of a so-called replacement toll: €120 for cars and €65 for motorcycles.
