The Habachtal in the Venediger Group is famous for its emerald deposits – the only ones in Europe. This makes it not only a special hiking destination but also a precious natural jewel that reveals the mysterious treasures of the Alps in a truly magical way. Did you know that you can even search for emeralds yourself here? Right next to the mountain inn Alpengasthof Alpenrose, a massive landslide from the Leckbach gully came down in 2002 – since then, the green gemstones can literally be found in the streambed. If you feel like it, try your luck!
Particularly exciting is the Emerald Trail, which leads you step by step deeper into the valley. Along this themed trail you will not only discover the scenic beauty and the mysterious world of minerals, but also gain fascinating insights into geology and the natural wonders of the Hohe Tauern.
