Obersulzbachtal
Valley of the red stones
A natural jewel – and truly our favorite place
The Obersulzbachtal is a genuine hiking paradise. Along the Venediger Trail you’ll find stamp stations and small adventures, while at the end of the valley the glacier educational trail tells the story of eternal ice. A particularly beautiful spot is the Seebachsee lake – a place straight out of a picture book.
Nine glaciers shape the valley and feed the Obersulzbach river. Impressive natural monuments such as the 80-meter-high Gamseck Waterfall near the Berndlalm or the 300-meter-high Seebach Waterfall leave visitors in awe. With a bit of luck, you might even spot marmots or ibex, which have been reintroduced to this area.
Those aiming higher will find spectacular goals with the Großvenediger (3,657m) and its neighboring peaks. Numerous passes lead, together with experienced mountain guides, into adjacent valleys and to some of the most beautiful huts in the Hohe Tauern.
