Wildgerlostal
A valley full of contrasts
From the picturesque reservoir up to the three-thousanders
The Wildgerlostal lies on the border between Salzburg and Tyrol and captivates with a blend of scenic lakes, traditional alpine pastures, and a dramatic high-alpine backdrop. The idyllic Durlassboden reservoir is the starting point for many tours and is also perfect for a leisurely circular hike or a pedal boat ride. Right next to it, the Alpengasthof Finkau invites you to take a relaxing break.
A particularly popular hike is through the Leitenkammer Gorge, leading you up to the Trisslalm. Those aiming higher can embark on a mountain tour to the Upper Gerlos Lake or to the Roßkopf (2,845 m), with stunning views of the glaciated Reichenspitz Group. A special highlight is the traditional Zittauer Hut at the Lower Gerlos Lake – a place full of alpine charm and the perfect starting point for high-alpine tours.
